Hello!

When my daughter has her fussy periods that can last quite a while... she will eat and then it seems like she doesn't want her bottle anymore.  I take it away and then try to do other things to help sooth her, when that doesn't work I'll give her the bottle again and she will take it some more... we will do this routine for about 4 or 5 times... sometimes I will make her a NEW bottle and she will finish that one as well!!  My concern is if I'm over feeding her??  I feelt like I'm shoving a bottle into her mouth to just keep her quiet but if she isn't hungry she has not problem letting me know.  Have you had any trouble with this at all??

Thanks!

Hi Jess!

Yes!  We had this problem too, definitely. That's why Sammy weighed 16 lbs at his 2 month checkup  Wink I would breastfeed, then we'd give him formula...then I'd bf some more, then give him another bottle...he ate A LOT. He would start to suck, then push away, squirm, cry/scream, then want to suck again. It's very confusing. Part of the problem for me was that I was breastfeeding, so you never know exactly how much they're getting. But if you're bottle feeding, I'd say go with the upper end of what's recommended, and only feed him that. It's so hard with a fussy baby, knowing if they're fussing b/c they're hungry, or Huh Will he take a pacifier at all?
