Things have been a little slow around here lately. I haven't been able to get on as much as usual, for which I'm sorry. But I'm wondering how everyone's doing these days? Any improvements? Tried anything new?

Things here have been OK. Sammy's behaviour lately has definitely reaffirmed for me that the 'spirited' temperament doesn't just go away! It actually doesn't bother me too much, but I do notice things about him that are much different than my daughter at this age.

He doesn't seem to know what to do with his anger a lot of the time. He's made great strides in this area, but he just seems to feel things so intensely, and doesn't know how to deal with it. His latest thing is when he gets frustrated, he very quickly screams something along the lines of 'I don't like you! You won't help me!  I'm never going to play with you again!', and runs off crying to his room. The good news is that usually after a few minutes, he calms down, and comes back out as if nothing has happened. I think this is a good improvement - in the past when he got frustrated, he really needed us to help him calm down, whether this meant holding him, rocking him, etc. Now he's much better at calming himself, which is great.

He's also gotten into demanding toys/food, etc. at stores, and totally freaking out when he doesn't get it. This is why I currently don't bring him to the store with me Smiley

I've just been busy with life.  My husband just had recurrent training so the baby and I were with him in Minneapolis for a few days.  As for the baby, he seems to have turned a corner and has been SO MUCH better lately.  Yes, he still has his bad days, but now it seems as though he's in a good mood as long as he gets his nap.  Getting him to take that nap, though, is a completely different story!  All in all, things haven't been too bad here!

That's GREAT! I'm so glad things are going so well for you. The best thing about having a high need or colicky baby is then when they outgrow it or have some good days/weeks, you appreciate it SO much more!!

nursemommy that's great!

Holly, I updated Elliot's progress in the 'I need serious sleep help' thread. Glad Sammy is making progress in the anger dept.

We've been sooo busy this summer! I bought a calendar just to stay organized (even though I'm currently just a SAHM). I have missed checking this forum--it seems there's always something more pressing. Today I just had to get on for comfort. A friend in my mom's group made a few comments about the way I'm raising my son that made me feel bad. I don't think she meant to hurt me, but it made me remember that most people just don't understand what it's like to have own of our babies! I am very appreciative of this site!
